Main Administrative Menu – Tools

Tools > CP and W’ Estimator

Opens a dialog to estimate your CP and W' based on a short and long power best. If 3 minutes and 20 minutes best are used the result aligns with Monod/Scherer algorithm. Other algorithms which are also available in Golden Cheetah are not supported by the Estimator at this time.

Tools > CP and W’ Solver

This tool was developed to solve the W'bal parameters for multiple rides where exhaustion occurred. Here’s a useful video explaining this.

Tools > Air Density (Rho) Estimator

Opens a tool for estimating Air Density based upon temperature and air pressure. This is useful when working with Aerolab.

Tools > VDOT and T-Pace Calculator

This tool is designed for use by runners and swimmers, you can learn more about Golden Cheetah VDOT and T-Pace here.

VDOT is the amount of oxygen you consume during a minute of running. (VDOT is shorthand for "V-dot-O2 max).

T-pace is a term used to describe the “Threshold Pace” for swim training for triathletes. Threshold is the term used for a pace that can be sustained for a minimum time or distance.

Tools > Create a new workout

Lets you build a workout based on

  • Absolute Wattage
  • % of FTP Wattage
  • Gradient

You can also import an existing activity and use that to create a workout.

Workouts can be saved as computrainer files and synchronized with Garmin and Wahoo computers via ErgDB. https://ergdb.org/

Tools > Download workouts from ErgDB

Opens a file dialog to select and download an ErgDB workout or video into your "Train" workout library for use with an indoor trainer.

Tools > Download workouts from Today’s Plan

Opens a file dialog to select and download a Today’s Plan workout or video into your "Train" workout library for use with an indoor trainer.

Tools > Import workouts, videos, videosyncs

Opens a file dialog to scan directories for workouts and videos and import them into your "Train" workout library for use with an indoor trainer.

Tools > Scan disk for workouts, videos, videosyncs

Scans disk drives for Video media (e.g. The Sufferfest) and workout files for use with your indoor trainer.

Tools > Create Heatmap

Generates a heat map of athletes selected activities and exports to the chosen folder for viewing in your browser.

This feature works but shows a dev version of Google maps. It may be deprecated or re-engineered to use openstreet API. OR to allow you to enter the Google API 3 (which is effectively free for personal use).

Tools > Export Metrics as CSV

Exports the available metrics data for all activities as .CSV file for external processing

Tools > Cloud Status

Check health of cloud services

Tools > Cloud Contributions

Cloud DB is cloud based data storage extension of Golden Cheetah (available in Golden Cheetah Version 3.4 and later).

Its purpose is to provide a cloud database for Golden Cheetah artifacts

  • Charts (including chart specific metrics) (done - available in GC 3.4 onwards)
  • User Metrics (Not planned yet)
  • Layouts (Not planned yet)
  • Workouts (Not planned yet)

More artifacts with new features will continue to be added to Golden Cheetah as well as functions allowing any user to view and retrieve artifacts from the Cloud DB to their local Golden Cheetah installation.

Cloud DB is not cloud storage for User Data and it’s not a data sharing platform for athletes and their trainers. Use Drop box or Google drive share for this

Tools > Options

Options are where you manage all your system settings. The Tabs are as follows:

Tools > Options > General

This is where you set parameters such as Language, Units of measurement and file locations.

Tools > Options > Athlete
